What are you apprehensive about when you retire to Spain?  In addition to finding a suitable property our primary concerns were about things we did not understand:

Our first experience of buying a property in Spain was like many others, buying a holiday home on an urbanisation in Torrevieja through a local Estate Agent. Although everything seemed to go quite smoothly and it was ok for holidays we always knew we wanted more.

We were introduced to Shiraz by a neighbour who told us that if we wanted more we should look to buy inland and we should meet Shiraz and see what was available. Shiraz explained we could buy a plot of land and build a house on it for much the same price as a house on an urbanisation. It was only when we met Shiraz that we realised we could actually design our own house rather than pick from a limited number of standard styles. We had never thought of this and to be honest the idea of designing a house from scratch was quite daunting.

Shiraz assured us it was easy and explained how he would “hold our hands” at each stage. We visited some of his clients and everyone spoke very highly of Shiraz and also the builder, Pascual. This was to be our big investment for our home in Spain and we needed everything to be right, we could not afford any nightmares like the horror stories we have all see on TV etc.

We have been delighted with the service we have received from Shiraz. He recommended a number of Spanish Architects who listened to our wish list and came up with a number of designs. We had complete control and we agreed on a design to suit what we wanted and to suit our budget. We had the choice of which builder to use and decided to use Pajobi SL because of the referrals we received when we visited other houses he had built for other UK clients.

We decided to employ our own Spanish solicitor and Shiraz was able to liaise with the solicitor at every stage to ensure the process kept on track. Shiraz has been true to his word and has “held our hands” and guided us through each step. We would be delighted to speak to anyone about the level of service Shiraz has given us and we have no hesitation in recommending his company to anyone who is looking for “their own” piece of Spain.
